- Jacquie: you know how long that meeting was?
- me: how long?
- Jacquie: long enough to put up a wall.
this is an awesome shot. it *almost* inspires me to start running and get my butt into shape. i think i’m going to have to pick up my tennis raquet and yoga mat when i’m back in the city! add that to the list of the goals for the month. oh wait, it’s already NOVEMBER! ahh!

There is such an amazing energy on marathon day…each year I have lived here I have become more awed and excited by the stream of colors and people of every shape and size, flowing through the streets. I also find it so interesting the interaction between the spectator and the runner and the runner with himself. It is quite beautiful to see how something as simple as a clap or cheer can really motivate someone to keep pushing forward, or run faster. Each runner taking part has different motivations and individual goals they are competing with as they run, but they come together and share this experience with the whole city and as we encourage them, they inspire those of us standing on the sidelines even more.

I enjoyed the most recent post from Fred of USV about slow capital. He lists some basic tenets of slow capital:
1) doesn’t rush to conclusions and doesn’t expect entrepreneurs to do so either
2) flows into a company based on the company’s needs, not the investor’s needs
3) starts small and grows with the company as it grows
4) has no set timetable for getting liquid: slow capital is patient capital
5) takes the time to understand the company and the people who make it up
well put, i like this. what about going for froyo?
My lovely friend Ricky put this out there and I think it pretty much sums it up. ;)
Dinner means you really want a relationship, a deal or both.
Lunch means you’d like to get to know someone to see if you want a relationship, a deal or both.
Breakfast means you’ve got a current deal to discuss (if you already have a relationship) or you’re willing to consider a relationship with someone new, but that person isn’t especially important.Drinks are for friends or business people who have become friends.
Coffee is not even on the spectrum.
